In this tutorial I am going to explain how to create a sliding door navigation menu using only CSS. When you have finished the tutorial you will finish with something like this.
you will notice that when you hover over any of the links in the example the button state changes to reflect it and it seems as if only one image is used. This is not the case!! Sliding door menus use two images , one for the left and one for the right. I am also implementing my CSS menu trick so we use only one image for the left hover and link state and likewise for the right reducing flicker and making the script lighter.
The source files for this tutorial are included and the menu has been tested in IE6, IE7, Firefox & Safari (Windows). Onward bound… …Read the rest of this entry »

So I thought I would make a general post about all the unimportant things happening around the world before moving on to information regarding future postings. If you don’t care about Prison Break, Dexter or TV in general then you may aswell hit the jump and scroll towards the end of this post.
When I am not working i like to put my feet up and either spend time with my family, play some Xbox 360 or watch some TV.
I watch quite a few american shows religiously as I am sure many of you do too. Most notably Prison Break and Dexter. If you havent seen either show yet then you really should. Prison Break is on its 4th series right now and is just as fresh as it’s first whilst Dexter is on its 3rd series. What are they? …Read the rest of this entry »

OK, This is the first of many rants I am sure but I am hoping it will let some steam out so I can relax a little more when watching I’m a celebrity get me out of here.
The problem i am having with the show isn’t the Witchetty Grub’s, Timmy Mallett or David Van Day. It is the stupid bitch by the name of Nicola Mclean who got her fame by shoving her tits into a grow bag on Halloween.
The main issue started when Timmy & David first entered the jungle and immediately she shown her selfish side by stating straight away that she wouldn’t be handing over anything of hers in order to set them free on the first night.
Now, the not handing over side I agree with as they were right in what they were saying about the first night is fine etc and not worth losing their special posessions for. That side is fully understandable but …Read the rest of this entry »

OK, Before i start, I love my iPhone 3G but…….. It is somewhat lacking of certain features found on even bargain bin mobile phones. Why apple have decided to leave these features out is a bit of a dark area but as we have such a great community of developers we have certain ways around them. Some of these methods are not supported by Apple but I paid for my iPhone and I will do what I wish with it. I am going to explain certain methods to you so you can unlock the true potential of this glorious gadget.Â

The most popular method of getting the best out of your iPhone is to Jailbreak it. The simplest method of Jailbreaking your device is by using a popular program called Quickpwn. Quickpwn allows you to run software on your iPhone that is not supported by apple but this doesn’t mean that it will break your new toy! Instead it opens up a world of new opportunities left out by Apple such as Video Recording, MMS and custom ringtones to name but a few.
To Jailbreak your iPhone do the following: …Read the rest of this entry »

So I have finally decided that my blog users deserve a little something for visiting my site so I have created a new simple design which should be pleasing on the eyes and simple to use.
Although I am a website designer and developer the focus of this blog isn’t aimed at that! Instead it is aimed at my entire life and the things that interest me along with several tutorials on certain things I see as important. To be honest, I don’t really have a lot of free time to post on here but I will post what I can, when I can.

For the last two years I have been addicted to the fantastic beast that is the Xbox 360. I have a wife to be (Oct 12th 2008) and 2 sons that live with me 24-7 so how can I find have a happy house when wanting to shoot some germans or alien scum?
Easy…. Microsoft gave the biggest gift to gamers in relationships and that is the Gamerscore (GS). My partner is the kind of woman that likes her man to be better than others and is obsessive compulsive with things such as the TV / Radio volume can’t be on an odd number and neither can my Gamerscore so she takes great pleasure in following my achievement unlocks during any game I play AND has a happy face whilst doing so! …Read the rest of this entry »

If you are a website designer then chances are you have created your latest website and submitted it into the various CSS showcase websites out there such as Best Web Gallery.
The main purpose of these websites I feel is to offer inspiration for designers and wannabe designers and some DO offer great resources. I visit these sites daily as a rule and check out the latest designs by companies or freelancers and lately have noticed that a lot of these sites are starting to add anything with a bit of CSS into the gallery. …Read the rest of this entry »

So, we have new maps for the game of 2007 coming tomorrow 03/04/2008 and I for one CANNOT WAIT.
Maps are Broadcast, Creek, Killhouse, and Chinatown and look really good. These maps are a godsend from Infinity Ward and will keep people playing for a long time to come (me included). The maps will be available for purchase over Xbox live for 800mp which is a bargain plus we get the extra benefit of having the maps a whole 21 days before the PS3 get them. Why we get them first is an obvious fact but that’s a completely different topic that I will not get into here.
For those that have been living under a rock and haven’t seen the maps yet here are some screenshots.
